LOSOS PRIZE

Parents as Teachers National Center recognizes two exemplary affiliates each year through the Losos Prize. One affiliate is awarded the Losos Prize for Excellence and another affiliate is awarded the Losos Prize for Innovation. These affiliates are honored at the Parents as Teachers 2019 International Conference and receive a monetary award. Qualified applicants have until June 21, 2019 to submit their application.

Losos Prize for Excellence

Qualified applicants are Blue Ribbon affiliates that are significantly impacting the lives of families through their services.  This impact should be able to be demonstrated through both qualitative and quantitative data.

Losos Prize for Innovation

Qualified applicants are Blue Ribbon or model affiliates that have developed new solutions that address specific needs of their community or the families served, or have enhanced existing programmatic and/or service delivery needs in a new or innovative way. Innovation can include more effective processes, services or technologies that meet the unique needs of the families served.

Winning affiliates for each award will receive:

  • A $5,000 award to support activities that further their work.

  • Complimentary registration, round trip travel, and up to three nights lodging for one person at our national conference.

  • Formal recognition during the conference’s award ceremony.

  • Optional visit from Parents as Teachers national office representative for local celebration event.

 

Qualified applicants for the Losos Prize for Excellence must:

  • Be a Blue Ribbon affiliate, meaning all Essential Requirements are met and at least 75% of the Quality Standards were met after completing the Quality Endorsement and Improvement process.

  • Have paid the 2018-2019 Affiliate fee.

  • Attend the 2019 Parents as Teachers Conference, October 14 – October 17, 2019 in St. Louis, Missouri, if selected.

 

Qualified applicants for the Losos Prize for Innovation must

  • Be a Blue Ribbon affiliate, or a Model affiliate, meaning all Essential Requirements are met.

  • Have paid the 2018-2019 affiliate fee

  • Attend the 2019 Parents as Teachers Conference, October 14 –17, 2019 in St. Louis, Missouri if selected.

Winning affiliates for each award are expected to:

  • Furnish photos and videos to the national office that will be shown during the awards ceremony at the Parents as Teachers Conference. 

  • Create a poster for the poster session at the Parents as Teachers Conference.

PARENT EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD

Parents as Teachers National Center is pleased to honor three parent educators each year through the Parent Educator of the Year Award. Individuals have until June 21, 2019 to nominate a parent educator for this award.

This award honors parent educators who show exemplary work supporting the Parents as Teachers mission.

Winning individuals will receive:

  • Complimentary registration for the 2019 Parents as Teachers Conference, this includes regular conference sessions.  Pre-Conference is an additional $225.

  • Round-trip travel for one to the 2019 Parents as Teachers Conference (arrangements handled by the conference planning team).

  • Up to three nights lodging for the 2019 Parents as Teachers Conference (arrangements handled by the conference planning team).

  • Commemorative award presented during the 2019 Parents as Teachers Conference.

Qualified applicants must:

  • Be a certified Parents as Teachers parent educator who has paid renewal fees and is associated with an active Model or Blue Ribbon affiliate.

  • Have at least three years’ experience as a Parents as Teachers parent educator.

  • Attend the 2019 Parents as Teachers Conference, October 14 – October 17, 2019 in St. Louis, Missouri, if selected.
